Founded in 1996, by Roger Overell, Managing Director of Lightwave Group Pty. Ltd, his passion for developing the ultimate in style, luxury, pleasure, blue water catamarans has evolved into three versions: the Sailing Series, the energy efficient Powercat series; & an engineering masterpiece, a true Motor Sailer version.

The family spirit is engaged and personalised service is delivered at Lightwave Yachts. Roger Overell is a qualified Shipwright. Widely respected for his ingenuity of boat building and design, he is highly regarded across many Industries for his business ethic and principles.
An astute sailor, he has crewed and skippered many races, achieving notable line honors, and handicap race results on the way. With his wife Louise, they lived aboard a Lightwave catamaran, which greatly impacted the direction of following Lightwave designs.
In 2007, Lightwave Yachts services were extended into Composite Manufacturing and Multihull servicing facilities. In 2008, Lightwave Yachts were announced as Builder of the Raider One Design racing cats. In 2010, the Lightwave Group were selected as the Australian manufacturer and assembler of Fuji Clean Japan’s Waste Water Treatment Systems.
Our expert team is located in the heart of the Gold Coast at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct. Our factory facility has access to multihull friendly facilities featuring berthing, covered and uncovered hardstand space and travel lift. The climate in this region is acknowledged as ideal for fibreglass construction where temperature and humidity are critical.
