DEPARTING DARWIN
Its the 6th October which was our EDT until last night when our air con ceased to function. We are waiting on an AC man to come and repair it. Hopefully we will get away tomorrow morning.
Have had e nice time in Darwin. Went on a dey trip to Litchfield Nat. Park where we fed crocs in the Adelaide river. We saw an abundance of beautiful birds-jabirus, brolga, whistling kites and several others. We visited some beautiful waterfalls and swam in each of them. We were assured there were no crocs and there were a lot of tourists so I figured you’d have to be unlucky.
Our friends Janet and Howard arrived on last Sunday at 1am!!! we hired a 4WD at went to kakadu national park for a few days. once again it was very beautiful with wet lands, river systems and wildlife. Watched the final of the rugby league at the very casual bar at our hotel with lots of Queensland supporters. Never mind, Howard still got to yell a bit. Back to Darwin to pick up Emily, daughter, and her boyfriend Guillaume who flew in from Cairns and have joined us for the next part of the journey. We have spent quite a lot of time getting our paper work, visas, vessel clearance for Indonesia and we were all stamped out of Oz by customs yesterday. I’m sure it is easier to get into oz than to get out!!!! Leaving tomorrow morning, Saturday, with out the air conditioner now, the condenser has to be sent back to Cairns and fixed and then sent on to Singapore. Oh dear.
On a brighter note, Guillaume is a mad fisher, so he and Emily have already spent a day on the Mary river fishing for barra – caught a couple but not quite as successful as they had hoped. But good for us, Guillaume and Emily and Peter will fish as we cruise so we should have loads to eat on the way to Indo. ( The air cond situation worsening as I speak – fridge now has to be removed to get to a/c condenser).
