Bonjour all
For those who didn’t know we had left – it was all a big rush at the end. We were to firstly leave on 15th then 16th then 19th then 21st – all of a sudden it became the 19th.
We arrived in Noumea, Friday night 24th approx 2300.
Unable to get Radtell phone working on our HF radio so that’s $500 prepaid calls down the drain, should of went with the sailmail like I wanted.
Anyway we had 3 days of very little wind with a lot of motor sailing. So little wind in fact we motored right next to Reflections (Rus & Fiona LIGHTWAVE 38) each other for drinkies, the seas were so flat.
Once past Middleton Reef we got the winds all of a sudden about 1900. Blew from every angle lucky we had 2 reefs in the main & small amount of genoa out.
We were then battered till we got here.
Seaforth took off, we wallowed for 2 days with Reflections as they were running out of fuel & I didn’t want to leave them. In the end the distance between us became so great we had too. Seaforth arrived Friday morning, us Friday night & Reflections Saturday morning.
Not sure how long we will be here. Noumea is quite dirty in areas – Markets are great just over the road from the marina. Lots of fresh fruit & veg. There is a big difference in class, seems some live in the streets & others have plenty. I guess same everywhere.
We are not going to be able to keep in contact very often as only places that will have internet cafes & phones will be here & Vanuatu.
Take care
Luv
Margie & Rob
