TRIP TO TOWNSVILLE WITH JOHN & CHRIS

Young John and younger Chris, both superb cooks and indifferent fishermen have arrived and are getting on well.

GLOUCESTER ISLAND
We are tucked away nicely of Gloucester island after a dive in Blue Pearle Bay Hamen Island. John and Chris are currently catching lots of small fish and of course reef sharks. Well the lamb chops were nice anyhow!!

CAPE BOWLING GREEN
We had a look around Cape Upstart then onto Cape Bowling Green. A notorious bad anchorage but being a neap tide it wasn’t to bad behind the spit. At spring tides I think the water would make it across all the spit and be bad news. Had a nice walk around the beach and the drift wood was quite spectacular.

REEF TRIP
We had 3 most enjoyable days around Wheeler, Centipede and Davies Reefs about 45 NM out from Townsville. I think the highlight was Chris pulling in a big Cobia …its the first we have ever caught and it tasted really superb..much better than Mackerel and as good as emperor. John’s cooking has been buuuuutiful with Chris also handy in the galley I have been spoilt…very nicely!! We also had fun diving and snorkeling, Wheeler was good, Davies OK and Centipede pretty poor.

MAGNETIC ISLAND
Have had a lovely week looking around Townsville and Magnetic Island with Susan (cute chick). Caught up with a couple of other freindly Lightwaves …..Salacia and Muskat 7. Had some nice walks around Magnetic Island seeing Rock Wallabies, little Snakes and one of our favorites, a friendly little Echidna .
