Hi Brooke & Peter
Thought I’d update you on our last 9 weeks of cruising.
Well things have gone well for us, we’re happy with the boat ,the extra speed & versatility of the power cat has allowed us to see lots of the beautiful central Queensland coast with out much hardship. Rooky and the Keppel’s were good before we moved on to Pearl Bay where we had a great time until the weather turned sour. Lots of beautiful scenery, wildlife and some fun fishing.
Then on the way up to the Whitsunday’s our most memorable anchorage was Refuge Bay on Scawfell Island. It was well protected even on 20 – 30 n winds & the snorkelling & walks were superb.
Our time up on the Whitsunday’s has been brilliant, with many quests on board we’ve been able to criss cross the islands blending resorts with good scenic anchorages that has left them all wanting more time here . We’ve been able to go out to the outer reef with every one. Bait reefs only 1 hour 20 minutes from hook and even from Bowen it was less then 3 hours. We take them snorkelling on some beautiful reefs, the Southern Foot Steps on bait being our favourite. Then we take them trolling up towards Line reef way and average a strike every 40 minutes with marlin, tuna , bonito and mackerel all making it to the back step before getting a kiss prior to us releasing them back….they must really wondering what’s happened.
The boat has sat so well at anchor its opened up new areas for us, we get to stay at places offering solitude and unspoilt nature, my favourite is the outer reef & I’m keen to spend a prolonged period of a couple of weeks in the northern swains on my way back if its possible, anyhow we’ll see in a few weeks if time permits.
Heres a load of pics attached to make any one drool, hope you enjoy.
Cheers,
Robin & crew
