COD HOLE Ribbon Reef
Amazing dive location with tame Potato Cod but don’t try opening a bag of fish pieces at 13 meters to feed the friendly fish!! We expected the Red Bass to be a bit bold but since our last trip the formally well behaved Cod have completely forgotten their table manners grabbing the food bag & attempting to make off with it ..still attached to the my (Dads) harness!! So much for dive planning!! I ended up with fish pieces floating all around me and 3 hungry COD & numerous Red Bass all going crazy enjoying the picnic lunch!! 3 Grey reef sharks were on the perimeter but gladly kept there distance although one ( pic) with a huge Shark hook and trace attached to his lower jaw did try his luck when the we got out of the way. Poor guy must have been very hungry….written by the dad.
DAY REEF
Its was still a bit windy 20 – 25 knots so a bit bumpy at anchor come high tide but we decided to go 17nm north to Day Reef. Had 8 hits while trolling and pulled in 3 Mackeral. Of the North East end we tryed drift diving along a wall which dropped to 50 meters, our hookah only allowed us to go down 23 meters but the water was very clear. It was ok but we never saw any of the big stuff we had expected. …..Written by the Dad.
