LOMBOK
We have now been in Lombok for a couple of days, anchored in a small inlet on the southern side of the island. The villages on shore seem very poor and we felt a little intimidated when we went ashore, they especially seem to give Emily a bit of hassle. When you arrive in a new anchorage here you are always surrounded by hoardes of small boats with kids in. At first we thought it rather sweet and started giving them crayons and colouring books. That was our first mistake. The second mistake was to give our rubbish to a young lad to dispose of for 2000rp (30cents) and he went back to the pristine beach and emptied the contents on the shore Half an hour later we started seeing our rubbish float by. We felt so guilty we had to go and retrieve it.
Emily’s spiel
hi everyone whose interested to know what my lucky parents are doing with their relaxing semi-retirement>> i have been on the boat now for three weeks and already im driving mum and dad crazy with playing cards and dice, going fishing, going to shore, going into town, fillling up the dingy with petrol, wanting to go diving, using the internet, having my washing and cooking done and wanting a shower for MORE than 30seconds and NOT wanting to go sailing OR do night watch….. im sure everyone can imagine that i am truly THE perfect passenger. besides, they have no ideas whats coming, at the moment Guillaume is with me, just wait till he leaves and i’ll be worse! As much as i love it though, im already beginning to feel trapped on a boat.. funny that?! so… not sure where exactly i’ll be getting off board. At this stage, halfway across the Indian Ocean..mmm… most definately. well, i haven’t said much ábout the trip coz its all been covered, just thought id give a little insight on how Pete and Penny, as lucky as they are, are spending their ‘relaxing’ semi-retirement!! x bye all ………. em
