DAY 14 – SAILING THE MARQUISES
Only 2 more nights to go – Yeah!! The last couple of days have been a bit trying as the wind has increased to 25knots and the seas where getting quite big. So instead of gliding along at 9 knots we have had to reduce speed to stop the boat from bouncing around too much.
With a bit of luck we should arrive in Fatu-Hiva late Friday evening, hopefully the anchorage is straight forward as we will be going in at night again. I know that I’m looking forward to that first beer and Penny a glass of wine or two; we haven’t had any alcoholic beverage for over 2 weeks – it must be a record!!
The only drama was the freezer giving up the ghost half way across the ocean. Penny had cooked and frozen several meals to get us to the Marquises and beyond. Luckily we have plenty of tinned food, dried beans and pulses to keep us going. If the seas settle down a little more tomorrow, we will throw in a line and hopefully catch a fish.
